Once Aphrodite compelled beautiful Mirra arouse her own father
Kinir. When the Gods of Olimpus learned about that, they decided to
turn the poor girl into a tree, and a child was born from its cracks. The
child was named Adonis. The Goddess of the child love brought into the
Underworld, so Persephone could cater for him. When he grew up and
turned into a handsome man, Persephone didn’t want to let him go. But
Zeus stepped in. The great God ordered Adonis to stay in the Underworld
for the firsr half of the year, and come back to Aphrodite for the second.
However Adonis was spending all his time with Aphrodite, so jealous
Persephone asked Ares, the God of War, to kill the youngling. Ares in
the skin of the wild boar attacked Adonis and severely wounded him.
Aphrodite was so desperate that Zeus relented and agreed for Adonis
to leave the Underworld to be with her. With his arrival, the warm Sun
was starting to shine brighter and brighter, so the vivid beautiful flowers
bloomed all around the hills of Greece.
