Astragalus austrosachalinensis
(Astragalus austrosachalinensis N.S. Pavlova)
Up to 30 cm high, with a taproot and several rising stems.
Leaves are pinnate, with 6–8 pairs of oblong-oval or ovate
leaflets. Inflorescence is a cluster of 5-13 drooping flowers. Corolla
is bluish 12-14 mm long. The calyx is about 5 mm long.
In the Sakhalin region it is only known on Moneron Island.
Astragalus kawakamii
(Astragalus kawakamii Matsum)
Up to 30 cm high, with straight stems. Leaves are oblong,
glabrous above, sparsely hairy below. Flowers are yellow, moth-
shaped, up to 2 cm long. Calyx is about 5 mm long with short
spikes.
A rare species endemic to the Kuril Islands. It is known only
from old Japanese collections (80s of the XIX century) from a
few localities on the Iturup Island (Parusnaya bay and environs of
Reidovo settlement) from where it was described.
Astragalus sachalinensis
(Astragalus sachalinensis Bunge)
Up to 50 cm in height, with upright, thin, ribbed,
branched stems in the upper part. Leaves are pinnate,
with 13–17 pairs of oblong-oval or ovate leaflets.
Inflorescence is a loose raceme with drooping
flowers on short pedicels. Corolla is 12-14 mm long,
with whitish or bluish tinge.
It is known on Sakhalin only from two points:
near the Agnevo village on the western coast of the
island (Aleksandrovsk-Sakhalinsky district) and on
the Balagan mountain (Tymovsky district, Nabilsky
ridge in the East Sakhalin mountains).
