Taimen, Sakhalin taimen

(Parahucho perryi)

Sakhalin taimen reaches 2 m in length and 24 kg in weight, living up to
16 years. This species differs from the usual taimen in larger scales.
It is a predator. The basis of the diet is fish: herring, smelt, Far Eastern
navaga.
Inhabits the Sea of Japan, spawns in the rivers of Hokkaido, the southern
Kuril Islands, Sakhalin and Primorye.
