Hobby Eurasian

(Falco subbuteo)

Body length — 28–36 cm, wingspan — 69–84 cm. Weight in the
region from 130 to 340 g. The color of the feathers on the back is dark
gray. In the area of the lower part of the body there is a reddish shade
with dark stripes. The feathers on the head are dark, but the cheeks
and throat are completely white. The eyes are dark brown in color, the
beak and paws have a bluish tint.
The main food is insects, less often birds, which are caught on the
fly.
On about. Sakhalin during the nesting season is distributed
throughout the territory, but extremely unevenly. In the Kuril Islands,
breeds on Kunashir, Iturup, Paramusir. During the migration season,
he visits the islands of Moneron and Tyuleniy. The general distribution
is Eurasia and North-East Africa.
