Pigeon Japanese green
(Treron sieboldii)
It reaches a maximum length of 30 cm and weighs no more than 300 g. The green
bast has a muscular body and a small head. The bluish-white beak is larger than that
of a common pigeon, slightly widened at the base. The wings are up to 25 cm long.
The tail is short, wedge-shaped, with feathers on the squat legs. The color yellow-
green closer to the tail becomes brighter. On the male, an orange bloom can be seen
on the chest, spotted gray, light yellow and green feathers are noticeable on the sides.
In females, green color predominates on the head and goiter.
They feed on fruits, flowers and buds of woody plants (cherry, elm, elderberry, etc.)
Breeds in the south of Sakhalin and Kunashir Island. Occasionally occurs on Shikotan
Island, as well as on small islands of the Small Kuril Ridge. Flights were recorded in
Primorye, on about. Moneron, to the south of the Kamchatka Peninsula, the Middle
Kuril Islands. Outside of the Russian Federation, it is found in the northeastern part
of the Indo-Thai Peninsula, Southeast China, as well as on all major Japanese islands
(Kyushu, Shikoku, Honshu, Hokkaido).
