Eurasian coot
(Fulica atra)
They have black plumage. Breast with a grayish-smoky shade, white at the
beak and spot. The body length of the common coot is only 38 cm, weight
is 1–1.5 kg. The eye color is bright red. The color of the legs is yellowish or
orange, the limbs are black, the blades are almost white.
The growing chicks feed mainly on invertebrates, adults and young individuals
prefer plant food: seeds, nestlings, vegetative parts of plants and algae.
Lives in the Far East in the valley of the river. Amur, Sredneamurskaya and
Lower Neamurskaya lowlands to the mouth of the river Amur, in the Primorsky
Territory to the north to the village of Terney. In the Sakhalin region, breeds in
the southern and central regions of Sakhalin Island to the mouth of the river.
Tym, nesting was also established in the South Kuril Islands.
